Luke turned one this week and he was lucky enough to share a birthday party with his two buddies, Daphne and Max. Saturday we celebrated their momentous first birthdays. It was a bug themed party and we all got "bugged" out. We had a spider pinata, a bug hunt, bug sculpting, bug food, and of course bug cakes. The kids and adults had a lot of fun and the weather cooperated enough that we could play some games outside. Luke was a little tentative at first with his cake but once he got started he was serious. He was very focused and was still eating long after his friends were tired of being in their seats. He went in with both hands and made sure to get every morsel off his fingers before going back for more.
His real birthday was on a school day so I took the day off and we headed to the zoo. Luckily (or unluckily) for Brad, his patient canceled so he was able to join us. We met a bunch of the other dental wives and had a great day at the zoo. That night we took Luke to get his very own ice cream cone. I think it was a little cold for him since he doesn't quite understand licking yet. We also got to skype with my mom while Luke opened his present. He was spoiled with presents by his aunt Lauren and uncle Jared, his amazing babysitter, Heather, and his grandparents. Lucky boy! We are so happy to have Luke in our family and he makes us laugh everyday.
