Columbus Zoo

On our quest to visit every zoo in the country, this weekend we traveled to nearby Columbus Ohio to see the zoo that is rated #1 in the country. (at least AAA says so) It is also Jack Hanna's home base. If you don't know who Jack Hanna is then you are missing out! He is a zoo keeper extraordinaire with his very own animal TV show.

So we headed out on Friday afternoon with high hopes for the weekend. Once we got to the hotel to go to bed all our hopes were quickly dashed to pieces... Luke was a TERROR! He is generally a fantastic sleeper, but he wouldn't go to sleep and just screamed like he was dying. He finally fell asleep at 11, but then decided at 3:30 that he was ready to be awake. Awake and LOUD! So after trying unsuccessfully to get him to go back to bed, Brad took him out to the car and drove around until he fell asleep. Brad then just slept in the car. Good thing we paid for a hotel! Nevertheless we were ready for the zoo the next morning. A little tired, but excited. The zoo was amazing. There were a lot of animals we hadn't seen before and really great exhibits. By the end of the day Luke was really feeling the effects of his late night partying and fell asleep as we were walking. He never falls asleep like this! It was an eventful trip and I don't think we will be ready for a hotel trip for a while!
